Quetzal Nature Tours

Our company was born out of the need to protect local ecosystems and harness the immense natural potential of our region, one of the richest in biodiversity. Aware of the growing threat faced by many species and habitats, we decided to create an initiative that combines a love for nature with the promotion of responsible and sustainable tourism. We specialize in offering birdwatching and photography tours, guided by local experts who share their knowledge about the species and the natural environment. Each tour is designed to provide a unique experience, where participants not only enjoy the beauty of local wildlife but also learn about its conservation.

Through our company, we aim to empower local communities by generating income through ecotourism that contributes to the well-being of people and the protection of the environment. We work closely with community projects and conservation organizations to ensure that the tourism we promote is an effective tool for nature preservation. At the same time, we educate our visitors about the importance of conserving our natural resources, with the hope of fostering greater environmental awareness and a collective commitment to protecting biodiversity."

Photography and Bird Watching tours

"Since I was a child, I fell in love with nature, especially birds. Growing up surrounded by mountains and forests allowed me to explore and discover the diversity of local wildlife. My fascination with the colors and songs of birds led me to bird photography and watching, seeking to capture those special moments and share them with others. Through my photos, I have wanted to show the beauty of the biodiversity in our forests and convey my passion for conservation.

Today, as a tour guide, I combine my love for birds, my knowledge of nature, and my passion for photography to offer visitors a unique experience. My goal is for each person to connect with the magic of Costa Rica's ecosystems and understand the importance of protecting them for future generations."

Our Staff

José Mario Alfaro

"From a young age, I have always been drawn to nature and its conservation. I have always believed that environmental education is essential for people to understand the value of ecosystems and biodiversity. My passion for birdwatching and photography goes hand in hand with conservation and environmental education, and with the help of tourism, a great positive impact can be made in areas where it is needed.

I am fascinated by leading birdwatching and photography tours as a way to teach and raise awareness, especially among local communities. Not only is knowledge about flora and fauna shared, but you also help communities understand the potential of ecotourism as a driver of sustainable development. For us, each tour is an opportunity to foster respect for nature and empower others to become active agents of change in the positive conservation of their environment."
